K Troop 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment

The Blackhorse In Vietnam 1966 - 1972

hosted by Bob Hersey

U.S.  SERVICEMEN !

During the first half of 1966, the US Esp. Corps suffered over 45,000 of casualties.

In the days to come, the number of American casualties will increase manifold.

The more Johnson escalates the war, the greater the danger you are facing.

The war becomes fiercer and fiercer !

If you yourselves don't look for a way out, nobody could help you!

Oppose to your being sent to the battlefront, as the men of the 3rd Brig, 1st US Inf. Div, at Lai Khe did, on last April 66.

If forced to join the battle:

- CROSS OVER TO THE FRONTS SIDE!

- LET YOURSELVES BE CAPTURED BY THE LIBERATION ARMED FORCES.

- DON'T RESIST.  THROW YOUR WEAPONS 5m FAR AWAY AND LIE STILL.

- HAND YOUR WEAPONS OVER TO THE LIBERATION COMBATANT, QUICKLY FOLLOW THEM OUT TO SAFER AREAS!

That's how to save yourselves from a senseless and useless death!

Through the Front's lenient policy, you will be treated with humanity and the Front will arrange your repairtation as it did with 2 US prisoners George E. Smith RA 13522780 and Claude Mc Clure RA 14703075 on last Nov. 27th 1965.

THINK IT OVER AND ACT QUICKLY !

THIS IS FIRST OF ALL FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT!

This reproduction of a card that was captured from the Viet Cong was intended to be circulated in the hopes that American soldiers would see it and "turn themselves in" to the Liberation Front.

The card was printed on red paper.  The spelling mistakes are not mine but rather are those of the original Viet Cong author.  I was not aware of this propaganda material while in country but only came to learn about it in June of 2000.  This is undoubtedly a very interesting piece of history.
