MARIO  AVERSA

Mario Aversa, a longtime White Plains resident, passed away on August 25, at the age of 65. He was born May 5, 1944 in Torre di Ruggiero, Calabria, Italy and immigrated to the U.S. in 1958. He graduated from White Plains High School in 1964. He served in the Vietnam War from August 1966 to September 1967, during which time he received a National Defense Service medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal and a Combat Infantryman Badge. He received his BA from Kansas State and his MBA from Pace University. He retired from Con Edison after 35 years of service. Mario loved to spend time with his family. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. Mario was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Maria Grazia Aversa. He is survived by his sister Nina (Frank) Godino of W. Harrison, his brother Antonio (Franca) Aversa of W. Harrison, his sister Giovanna (Gaetano) Urbano of Medway, MA, his sister Bruna (Dominick) Barbieri of W. Harrison and his brother Vittorio (Lori) Aversa of W. Caldwell, NJ. Also surviving are 15 nieces and nephews and 29 great nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with interment following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in "Honor of Mario Aversa" to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
