Paul McQueen Spivey, 75, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at North
Florida Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Spivey served over 20 years with the U.S. Army, having enlisted in
1954 at the age of 17 and retiring in 1974.
He served with the 1st, U.S. Cavalry Division, 11th and 14th Armored
Cavalry Regiment Mr. Spivey served our country in Vietnam, earning the
Purple Heart, 3 Bronze Stars, the Meritorious Service Medal and the
Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, among many others.
He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Berlin, Germany and a
member of the Forest Grove Baptist Church in Alachua, Florida.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Frances Spivey, Archer, Florida;
son Paul J. Spivey (Debora Karras Spivey, wife) of Gainesville, Florida;
Debora Spivey Snyder (Jeffrey Snyder, husband) of Alachua, Florida;
Michael M. Spivey (Kim Gay Spivey, wife) of Archer, Florida; 8
grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at
Milam Funeral Home of 22405 West Newberry Road, Newberry, FL. 32669.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at
Forest Grove Baptist Church, 22575 NW 94th Ave Alachua, FL 32615, with
internment being held immediately following at Forest Meadows Cemetery
West, Gainesville, Florida.
