32 days and a wake up

Dear Mom & Dad,

Greetings once again from Vietnam.  I realize that it has been quite some time since my last letter but please understand, I am quite busy and I find it difficult to find the time to write as often as I would like.

We have moved back to Bien Hoa.  Things have quieted down considerably.  I received your letter with the picture of you and the new car.  That, being of course, the latest picture of you  I was so glad to get it.  You know I don't have too many pictures of you.  I hope you are both well.  You look good in the picture.

I am fine.  I'm working as hard as ever.  Time is going by slowly but it won't be long now.  So far, I've received no official orders on my extension and no port call.  So, I guess I will just have to wait.

Enclosed in this letter you will find a letter of Commendation which is self explanatory.  This was given to me by my old CO, Captain Middaugh who has since made Major.  Yesterday his helicopter was shot down and he was critically wounded.  I was quite surprised to hear that.

The troop is up at Bandit Hill.  So far, we have lost two ACAVs.  One was lost to a mine and the other to two RPGs.  No one was seriously hurt.  So we aren't doing too badly.  I won't be going out to the field again.  I'm too short.  So, I guess I am going to spend the rest of my time here at Bien Hoa.

I am going to end this letter for I would like to go to the club tonight.  Take care and . . .

By for now!

Love,
Bob
