My dad was in SVN 69-70 with the Australian Army. He's looking for a Sergeant Tommy
Mendoza from 3/4 Cav who came to the Australian base at Nui Dat sometime in 1970. They
stayed a week.
Hope they enjoyed the showers!

informative. I fond a photo that I think is our platoon , riding on APC s that have the
11th CAV COUNNTRY on the front of them. I remember working with tracks many times. We were

I was with I Troop Nov. 69 - Nov. 70. I also have all my letters sent home in a
notebook arranged chronologically (by date). My mother was great to save everything so I
have about 5 notebooks with all my letters, orders, and everything. I am in the process of
writing a book of short stories about my experiences in Nam. I drove for the platoon Sgt.
I-17 Joe Wertz. I hit a few land mines and had some bad times, but also some hilarious
times. Allons

Hey guys. I was with HHT3/11 Oct69-Oct70. When I got asigned to the 3/11 one of the
first guys I ran into was Kurt Sawaski from Hunnington Beach, CA. We hade been buds in AIT
at Ft. Knox. We got seperated when he went to Sheridan school and I went to Shake-n-Bake.
It was a great compfort to me To see someone I knew that soon over there. He was waiting
to go home Oct 69 so we lost touch again but not before we had a few beers and a overnight
stay in Bein Hoa. We came back with the truck that picked up the KP's from town. Best
night I had. So just to say hey.

I served with the 1st Recon Squadron 11th ACR Straubing during the period March 1960 to
March 1963 in successive assignments as Squadron PBO, Troop C XO, and 1st Squadron S3 Air.
I remember well some of the local areas in beautiful downtown Straubing. The
Karmuletenbrau and Cafe Kroner. Straubing even could boast a Woolworth 5 and dime store at
the time. We are fortunate to visit this area every couple of years. signed Arnold W.

our current troopers in the Blackhorse Regiment will have a better understanding of the
11th ACR's history and truly appreciate the multiple mission accomplishments during the
last century. "Find the bastards, then pile on!".

After my tour in Thailand (Nov 68 - Nov 69), I was with the 3rd ACR in Ft. Lewis, Wn.
One of my friends was Harry Seese, from Harrisburg, PA. Harry was in Black Horse, on a
bridge tank, and I recall that George Patton, JR was his Regimental Commanding Officer.

To my brothers in arms, with the 11th ACR, both past and present, let me just
say "hi," and that you will always be remembered. I served proudly with the
Blackhorse during 11/90 to 3/94 (MED TROOP CS) and I watched tearfully as our colors were
folded, and the doors to Downs Barracks (Fulda, Germany) were forever closed. "ANY
HOUR THAT DUTY CALLS TO KEEP OUR COUNTRY FREE, WITH A THUNDEROUS ROAR WE'LL RIDE AGAIN,
11TH CAVALRY"!
You remember what the motto was? If you ain't cav...you ain't ____! Well brothers, we
apparently been there, done the job needed of us, and rose above it all. Those years spent
in the unit, will always be one of the most fondest memories that I could possibly have.
To those of you I served with, let's plan on meeting for a drink at the GREENGOOSE (I
still have my membership card). Email me, and let me know that all of my brothers are
doing good. ALLONS...ALLONS...THE PRIDE OF THE CAVALRY...THE BEST DAMN REGIMENT THAT YOU

I was stationed at a place called Gia Ray w/94th Engr.Det.(Quarry) for most of 1967.
You guys were there to pull security and I never said thanks to any of you guys at the
time. After my return to "the world" and some soul searching I felt ashamed and
vowed to take every opportunity to thank any and all "Blackhorsemen" for
watching over me and my friends.

Just surfing and found the web site. I served at Blackhorse Basecamp from 4/68-1/69. I
was with C/44th Signal Company/39th Signal Batallion. We furnished telephone/teletype
communication to the baseccamp via a radio network operated by our unit and other units of
the 39th Signal Battalion. Colonel George S. Patton was the commanding officer of the 11th
armored cavalry regiment during much of my time there. Remember the road to Xuan Loc?

Knew Sgt. Schumacher (kia 6-19-67) from Ft.Meade, MD. Always wanted me to join his
squad. Not a grunt, but a cannoncocker. I was wounded that same night, but did not find
out he was KIA until '88 when I joined 11thacvvc (LM#404). I still miss Wayne.
