Hardly a day goes by that I don't think about Peter. He represented the best of
us. A truly great person. It has taken all these years to get the courage to
look on line for his name. Peter was sleeping where I always slept. I told him
that he could have it that night but that spot belonged to me. I was on guard
duty when the RPG hit. It blew me into the air and I came down on the back of
the track. I slid inside only to find that Peter had died. I now live in
Phoenix maybe some day I will meet his family.

I was in the same track when Peter was killed. We were attacked at about
2:00 am October 30th 1970. Peter was sleeping inside in front of the drivers
hatch when an RPG came through and struck Peter. I was sleeping in front of the
motor an arm length away. I was the medic for the 1st Platoon, so Lt. Caswell
and I picked up the remains. I stayed with Peter's body until Grave Registration
came.
