Relationship:
That day began as any other. We had an ARVN company assigned to the platoon that
day. We were rifting through the jungle. Their was some activity in a
suspected bunker complex. Our platoon was directed to the hot area. A pink
team was in the area giving us support. Around 9:45 A.M. you and two others were
dismounted and sent to check out a bunker. Y'all did your thing. Smoke in,
concussion in down inside check it out. A scene I shall never forget the three of
you walking back with big smiles on y'all faces. I remember thinking they are too
close together. Before I could say spread out, one of you triggered the booby trap.
You were in the middle one trooper went airborne and another dropped in place.
You never stopped walking. You walked straight to my track and held out both
hands as if to say why?
God it's hard to let you go. Willie I remember LT.
