Delbert O. Lewis was listed as a member of K Troop in
the 2001 edition of the "Master Roster" of the 11th Armorded Cavalry's KIAs
in Vietnam compiled by http://11thcavnam.com
and propogated by Jim Murray, "Relative Liason Officer" of the 11th ACVVC.
In December, 2019, Ollie Pickral informs me that PFC Lewis was listed as
belonging to M Company according to the official record
listed
here Ollie later revised his remarks to indicate the PFC Lewis was
assigned to K Troop when he was killed and then, Captain John Longhouser,
remembers the the Area of Operation was Loc Ninh. Thank you to both
Ollie and John.
After 2001 an extensive and exhaustive search began
to refine and correct errors and omission the the official KIA roster
remembering our honored dead as accurately as possible. This research,
under the directtion of Allen Hathaway, 11th ACVVC has been published and
now stands as the
official list.
It is now believed that PFC Lewis served under the
command of both M Company and then was assigned to K Troop. No one can
doubt Lewis' dedication to duty, his honorable service and his ultimate
sacrafice. We honor and remember PFC Delbert O. Lewis as one of our
own.
